COVID-19 Global Edge FAQ

What are the impacts of COVID-19 on the Global Edge program?

For Fall 2023, the Global Edge program is running as scheduled. As we continue to monitor the evolving COVID-19 situation, please be aware that program details may change. If they do, participants will be notified and this page will be updated.

If I enroll in Global Edge and the fall semester abroad is canceled due to the current Global Health situation, what recourse is there for fall course enrollment and campus housing?

The Global Edge team is working closely with the UC Berkeley administration to monitor the evolving COVID-19 situation. Should the climate resulting from COVID-19 have an  impact on your ability to participate in Global Edge or status of the program, UC Berkeley Admissions will work closely with you to ensure you have a place at UC Berkeley. You will also be notified by Global Edge staff, who will discuss your options with you.

I am an International student who wants to apply for Global Edge. Am I eligible?

Any international student who is eligible to attain a UK Study Visa, is also eligible for Global Edge. Confirm your visa eligibility on the Check if you need a UK visa page. However, understand that given the evolving COVID-19 situation, we highly suggest that you contact your local UK consulate regarding your visa eligibility and processing time for clearance to enter the UK.  We are here to support our students and want to ensure that each student and their family decides what is best for them based on the circumstances. Please reach out to our office at globaledge@berkeley.edu if you are an international student considering joining the program.

What financial recourse do I have if the Global Edge program is canceled?

In the event that the Global Edge program is canceled, you will be notified by Global Edge staff who will discuss your options with you.
